Often the worried or angry look caused by the pulling in of the brows in the midline is improved through Botox Cosmetic injection. About the Procedure

Botox Cosmetic is a substance that is used to relax the muscles underneath the skin. These muscles cause the lines and wrinkles which appear on the surface. In addition the bands of tightened platysma muscles may also be prominent in the neck under the chin. Botox Cosmetic remains in the area injected and does not travel elsewhere in the body. Minute amounts of the substances injected allow this to be a very safe procedure.

Injections are usually done after a topical anesthesia has been applied. Very small gauge needles are used and the procedure can be done quite comfortably.

After the Procedure

Following Botox Cosmetic injections by Dr. Gulin slight bruising or redness can occur although this is usually infrequent. Patients return to their usual activity or work the same day. Minimal discomfort is associated with the procedure following injection.

After several days patients begin to see the lines around the forehead, in between the brows, in the crows feet area and in the upper lip gradually smoothen. It may take up to one week before the full effect of the Botox Cosmetic is seen. The correction that is obtained can be made even better by injection of soft tissue injectable fillers to bring the depth of the lines up to the surface of the skin.

Most patients find that the effect of Botox Cosmetic lasts for about six months. At that time the lines gradually return although no worse than they were prior to the injection. When the Botox Cosmetic injection that has been combined with a well planned skin care program, the facial lines are often less apparent even when the Botox Cosmetic has worn off.
