Modern techniques have allowed the procedure to be performed with more satisfying results, quicker recovery time and less discomfort. Although the majority of the breast patients are female, a certain number of patients are men seeking relief from enlarged breasts (gynecomastia).

Breast Enlargement, Reduction, Reshaping Procedures

Breast Augmentation (Enlargement)
Many women feel that small breasts not only limit their fashion choices but can also cause dissatisfaction with their body image. Dr. Gulin uses a number of techniques to increase the fullness and projection of the breast, improving the balance in a woman’s figure while enhancing her self image and confidence. Several types of state of the art breast implants are now available. Dr. Gulin uses the latest FDA approved cohesive silicone gel filled implants as well as postoperatively adjustable saline implants allowing the breast size to be adjusted even after surgery. Breast Reduction
Breast reduction is designed to relieve the physical discomfort of back, neck, and shoulder pain, often caused by very large breasts. Simultaneously the overall appearance of the breast is greatly improved. The procedure reshapes the breast by removing excess breast tissue and skin while tightening and lifting the breast to a more proportioned and desirable shape. Without removing it, the nipple and its areola are positioned higher on the breast. Breast Reduction Using Liposuction
For a select number of women Dr. Gulin is able to use ultrasonic tumescent liposuction (Lipo-Selection) to reduce the amount of breast tissue without any external scars. In this case only breast tissue is removed, allowing the skin to shrink and the nipple to elevate itself on the breast. Read more about breast reduction using liposuction.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Many women see Dr. Gulin at Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples/Fort Myers to restore the firmness and shape of their breasts. This loss of breast shape may occur even at an early age as well as after breast feeding or as one ages. In a breast lift the skin is tightened and the nipple is raised to a higher position. Nipple and Areola Correction
An increasing number of women see Dr. Gulin for improvement in the appearance of either the nipple or the areola or both. The deformity may have occurred as the breast developed or as a result of previous surgery. The nipple may be inverted or elongated. In addition, the areolae may be excessively enlarged or have scar around it from previous surgery. Also the position of the nipple and its areola may not be the same on both breasts. Mommy Make-Over (Post Pregnancy Breast Reshaping)
After pregnancy the breast often undergoes a change in its shape and size. It may well lose some of its firmness due to deflation after breast feeding or pregnancy itself. At times one breast may be different in size from the other. The nipple often falls on the breast. Dr. Gulin is able to change the shape, size, and proportion of the breast through lifting, reduction or augmentation, or a combination of these procedures. At times Dr. Gulin will combine breast shaping procedures with liposuction of the abdomen, hips, or thighs or a full or mini tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). Male Breast Reduction (Correction of Gynecomastia)
Gynecomastia is the condition of over development or enlargement of the male breast, which is common not only in older men, but also in teenagers. Often more than a physical problem, it may cause embarrassment and emotional discomfort. In many instances Dr. Gulin is able to address male breast enlargement solely with liposuction or, if necessary, with a small incision around the lower part of the areola.
