About the procedure

Dr. Gulin performs breast reduction using liposuction alone in his fully accredited on-site surgery facility located in Naples, Florida under twilight sleep sedation or general anesthesia. One-quarter inch size incisions are made around the areola, under the breast, and in the armpit through which a liposuction cannula is introduced. Usually the procedure is performed with ultrasonic tumescent liposuction (Lipo-Selection/Vaser-lipo). The ultrasound assists in separating the fatty breast tissue from the rest of the breast tissue, thus creating less trauma to the breast with less bruising and swelling. In addition, the ultrasound promotes contraction of the skin around the smaller breast mound.

No incisions are present except for very small lipo-selection entry incisions. Breast sensation as well as nipple sensation is retained in addition to the ability to breast feed.

After your procedure

The breast remains swollen for approximately two weeks following the procedure. After this the majority of the swelling has subsided. Mild bruising is also present, up to about one week to ten days. A comfortable bra is worn night and day for about two months following the procedure to help elevate the breast to a more youthful position.

The overall result of the breast reduction by Dr. Gulin at Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples-Ft. Myers, is a smaller more proportioned breast. No incisions are present except the very small one-quarter inch liposuction entry incisions. Breast sensation as well as nipple sensation is retained and the ability to breast feed is also retained.
