Correction of Previous Facial Surgery
(Secondary Face-Lift)
Many patients seen by Dr. Stanley P. Gulin at Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples-Fort Myers are often dissatisfied with the degree of improvement from previous cosmetic surgery of the brow, eyelids, face, or neck. The results may have lasted only a short time or the surgery has resulted in certain areas of disfigurement. These problems can include prominent scarring, earlobe disfigurement, eyebrow asymmetry, or hairline distortion. Many patients feel that their brow, eyelid, facial, or neck procedures have been incomplete and have not given them the full rejuvenation that they had wished.
Many patients seen by Dr. Gulin simply show recurrent signs of aging many years after a previously well performed facial procedure. These patients have been happy with their facial rejuvenation but again the signs of aging have recurred. These problems are addressed through a secondary face lift, supporting the deeper tissue while redraping any excess skin.
Dr. Gulin individualizes each correction depending upon the specific problems involved. Often excessive scarring is removed, sagging muscles or tissue tightened, and excessive fat either recontoured or removed. Every attempt is made to keep the incisions as well hidden as possible. Often fat transfer (injection) is used to correct various contour deficiencies. Occasionally fat transfer (injection) alone is sufficient to obtain the desired degree of facial rejuvenation.
All surgery is performed under twilight sleep sedation anesthesia in the fully accredited on-site surgery facility located in Naples, Florida.
The return to full activity obviously varies with the extent of the correction performed by Dr. Gulin at Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples-Ft. Myers, and would correspond to the specific procedures being performed. A secondary face-lift would usually allow a return to full activity in about one week. Lesser procedures may allow a return to usual activities in four to five days. Bruising and swelling is no more than if the procedure had been performed primarily.
