How to Recover from a Soft Tissue Filler
Jay Z himself rapped about how thirty is the new twenty, and we wouldn’t be surprised if he started increasing that age as he celebrates more and more birthdays. And although people are embracing their old age now more than ever, it’s not without the help of a few cosmetic procedures along the way. One of the most popular cosmetic procedures that we offer patients here at Plastic Surgery Associates is soft tissue fillers.
Here at our office, we offer patients a variety of different soft tissue fillers all of which are designed to fill in fine lines and wrinkles and add volume to certain parts of the face like the cheeks. Most of the fillers we use at Plastic Surgery Associates are made from hyaluronic acid. However, we also use Radiesse which is made primarily of calcium hydroxyapatite and Sculptra which is a synthetic material. Whatever filler you decide to go with, it’s important to know what you can expect afterward.
Bruising, Swelling, and Tenderness
Although it’s uncommon, some patients experience some bruising, swelling, or a bit of tenderness at the injection site. If you experience any of these symptoms, try applying a gentle cold compress to the site for the first day afterward.
One of the best things about soft tissue fillers is that patients notice immediate results afterward. However, results will gradually increase as the days go on— leaving you having a lot to look forward to from your injections.
They Last Long
Results from soft tissue fillers are temporary but compared to other injectables on the market; they last a lot longer. Depending on the type of filler you get and your skin type, results can last anywhere from around 9-12 months on average.
