Facial Rejuvenation and Contouring Procedures

Face-Lift
Face-lift procedures have changed considerably over the past two decades. Dr. Gulin not only tightens the loose skin of the face and neck, but also the underlying muscles resulting in a smoother natural appearance, which lasts considerably longer than traditional techniques. Short Scar (Limited or Mini) Face-Lift
An increasing number of men and women are seen by Dr. Gulin who do not need full face or neck procedures but would like to reverse some of the early signs of aging. Short scar face-lifts involve a shorter incision with less recovery time. Often these procedures are combined with liposuction of the jowl or neck, a limited neck lift, or fat transfer (injection). The Mid-Face (Cheek) Lift
Dr. Gulin offers a mid-face lift for patients seeking improvement for sagging cheeks or deep nasolabial lines located between the nose and cheek. These procedures are done through limited incisions with no visible scars. Often the depression between the upper cheek and the eyelid is improved or filled. Dr. Gulin often combines the mid-face lift with fat transfer (injection) to recontour the cheek, fill nasolabial folds, or smooth the junction between the cheek and the eyelid. Fat transfer (injection)
Over the past fifteen years Dr. Gulin has developed his own personal technique for transferring (injecting) fat to the face to improve areas of depression, folds, and wrinkles. Often this procedure is done in combination with other facial procedures or alone under local anesthesia. Cheek Contouring (Buccal Fat Reduction)
Many patients see Dr. Gulin to change the shape or fullness of their cheeks. Buccal fat reduction involves reduction of the deeper fatty tissue of the cheek, reducing a rounded or chipmunk-like appearance. At times the cheek instead needs to be made fuller, correcting any flattening or depression, particularly in older patients. Cheek improvement is often combined with liposuction of the jowl area or fat transfer (injection) to the nasolabial folds between the nose and cheek. Correction of Previous Facial Surgery (Secondary Face-Lift)
These patients seen by Dr. Gulin at Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples/Fort Myers seek improvement of the previous cosmetic surgery that they have had in the face, neck, or eyes. Patients are often unsatisfied with residual jowling and excessive skin laxity or fullness in the face or under the chin. A number of patients see Dr. Gulin because of their excessive scarring, earlobe deformity, or scarring around the hair line. Brow or Forehead Lift
A brow lift corrects a low positioned or sagging brow often in combination with improvement in the lines and furrows across the forehead and between the brows. Often only the outer or lateral portion of the brow sags producing not only a flattened brow but excessive eyelid hooding. Dr. Gulin uses a number of techniques including minimal incision and endoscopic techniques to raise the brow and reduce the lines in the forehead and between the brows. Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
At Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples/Fort Myers many men and women consult with Dr. Gulin to improve the tired or sagging appearance of their eyelids. Often the skin may lose its elasticity at an early age, producing sagging of the upper and lower eyelid skin and bulging of the fat pads in the eyelids. Heaviness to the upper eyelids may also be a result of sagging of the brows themselves. Dr. Gulin will often combine an upper eyelid blepharoplasty with a brow or forehead lift to correct these conditions. Neck Lift
Improvement in the neck and jowl area may be performed alone. This involves tightening of the muscle bands underneath the chin as well as redraping of loose skin. Usually the incisions used by Dr. Gulin are limited only to the back of the ear or under the chin. Men often complain of the turkey gobbler appearance in the central neck area and this can be addressed through a cervicoplasty using a Z-shaped incision hidden under the chin. Botox cosmetic and Dysport®
Botox cosmetic is a very safe type of injection that is used to treat lines in the face particularly between the brows, in the forehead and around the eyes and lips. Originally used to treat overactive eye muscles Botox Cosmetic® smoothes out lines by weakening the muscles which cause the skin to crease. Soft Tissue Fillers
The soft tissue fillers are used to provide cosmetic improvement to lines, folds and wrinkles of the face. A number of illers are available for injections. These include Restylane®, Juvederm®, Sculptra®, Radiesse® and collagen. As the collagen in the skin breaks down through aging the sun exposure facial wrinkles, laugh lines and hollow like depressions begin to appear.
