Hair Restoration
Men seeing Dr. Stanley P. Gulin at Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples-Fort Myers are often aware of their thinning hair either in early years or as they have aged. Many men feel younger than they appear and also wish to regain the fullness of their hair as well as a hair line they previously possessed. Men are often embarrassed by their thinning or absent hairline. Often thinning or absent hair is a result of a hereditary disposition.
Aesthetic hair restoration has progressed significantly over the last twenty years. No longer is there an artificial or uneven cobblestone appearance but natural appearing hair density. Hair is removed from the back of the head and broken up into single hair follicle units or at times two or three follicular units. These are transplanted into the hair line and the scalp in back of the hairline. The hair restoration is individualized to each patient’s desired hair line.
All hair restorations are performed in the fully accredited out patient surgical facility located in Naples, Florida under light sedation.
Most patients return to normal work activity in about one week following their hair transplantation surgery. Mild swelling of the eyelids may occur for several days. Showers are resumed on the second or third day.
Hair growth becomes noticeable in about three to four months following surgery, although the final result may take up to one year.
