Nasal Reshaping (Rhinoplasty)
Dr. Stanley P. Gulin sees a number of men and women at Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples-Fort Myers who wish to have the shape and size of their nose changed. Often the nose is simply too large for their face and its external shape is cosmetically displeasing. The bridge may be too high or have a hump; the tip may be too wide or droop; the nostrils may be too far apart. Many patients also have had previous injury to the nose resulting in a nasal deformity as well as possible breathing problems. At times insurance is able to pay for correction of some of these problems.
Nasal reshaping (rhinoplasty) is performed by Dr. Gulin at the fully accredited on-site plastic surgical facility in Naples, Florida under general anesthesia. Nasal reshaping (rhinoplasty) is performed through internal nasal incisions through which the cartilage and bone is reshaped. Occasionally an external incision is used to narrow the nostrils. At the conclusion of the procedure a splint is placed on the nose.
During the nasal reshaping (rhinoplasty) Dr. Gulin may also increase the projection of the chin with an implant to better balance the chin-nose proportion. In addition, liposuction of the chin and neck can also be performed to give more definition to the chin.
Most patients return to work approximately one week following nasal reshaping (rhinoplasty) when the splint has been removed. By that time the mild bruising in the corner of the eyes has almost disappeared. The new nasal shape is already evident but swelling may persist for a few weeks.
