Soft Tissue Fillers
Many women and men are seen by Dr. Gulin at Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples-Ft. Myers to improve the lines, fold and wrinkles in the upper and lower face. Often the depressions below the eyelid give an older tired look as well as do the nasal labial depressions between the nose and cheeks. Smoker’s lines as well as age and sun related lines in the upper and lower lip are often improved also. In addition, these fillers are used to give fuller lips as well as more contour to the cheeks.
A more permanent form of correction is also performed by Dr. Gulin using fat transfer (injection) instead of synthetic fillers.
Most injectable fillers used by Dr. Gulin contain hyaluronic acid which is a natural occurring sugar that is found in the human body. Sculptra is a synthetic material related to absorbable suture material. Radiesse is comprised mainly of calcium hydroxyapatite which occurs naturally in the body.
Soft Tissue fillers are place either in the skin or just below the skin depending upon the type of line or depression that needs to be filled out. The procedure is usually down after a topical anesthetic is applied or a injection has been given similar to a dental block. Following the injection ice is applied for several minutes.
Following injection of soft tissue fillers by Dr. Gulin at Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples-Ft. Myers most people return their usual activities or work that same day. A small amount of bruising, redness or swelling can occur but is infrequent. Makeup is applied several hours after the injection.
Following your soft tissue injection, lines, folds and wrinkles of the face are much less obvious. Depressions under the eyes or nasal labial folds are much smoother with a younger appearance to the face. Older patients find that the lips have a much more fuller more youthful appearance while in others the lips can be made to look fuller and more lush.
Most injections last between nine months to two years depending upon the substance and the area injected. Botox Cosmetic injection around the same time also prolongs the effect. Long lasting and similar results are also available through fat transfer (injection).
