Thigh Lift
Many patients seen by Dr. Stanley P. Gulin at Plastic Surgery Associates of Naples/Fort Myers are able to contour their thighs using only ultrasonic liposuction (Lipo-Selection/VASER – Lipo). However, a number of patients, either through weight loss or aging, develop poor elasticity in their thighs, particularly in the inner aspect. For these people a thigh lift is an excellent procedure to correct not only the fullness of the thigh but the sagging skin. These patients seek a younger, smoother more contoured appearance to their thighs. Occasionally some patients seen by Dr. Gulin have lost significant amounts of weight and the excess skin creeps all the way to the knee.
Surgery is performed under twilight sleep sedation or epidural anesthesia with sedation in the state of the art fully accredited on-site plastic surgical facility located in Naples, Florida.
Surgery consists usually of an incision in the groin, which is well hidden by underwear or a bikini swimsuit. Often the thigh is first liposuctioned. The excess skin of the inner thigh as well as the front of the thigh is removed through this incision. The skin is then secured to deeper ligaments to give a lasting result. The incision follows the outline of the groin so that it is not visible outside of underwear or bathing suits. For massive weight loss patients who have lost a significant amount of weight this incision is at times combined with an inner thigh incision to tighten the entire circumference of the thigh.
In addition to the thigh lift, ultrasonic liposuction (Lipo-Selection/VASER – Lipo) can be used to contour the outer portion of the thigh and knee.
Most patients return to usual work activity in about 7 – 10 days. Compression stockings are often of help for several weeks. Mild to moderate swelling is seen for about two weeks following surgery. Strenuous activity can be resumed in about three to four weeks following the surgery.
Following your thigh lift by Dr. Gulin at Plastic Surgery Associates at Naples-Ft. Myers, the thigh has a smoother appearance to the skin as well as a smaller circumference. Most women find that their clothes, particularly jeans, fit better and the thigh itself has a more tightened smoother appearance. The incision goes on to heal well and is easily hidden under bathing suits or underwear.
